We understand the anxiety and pressure from work to put your infant in daycare so soon but we have created a program that supports parents, especially first-time parents, when they make the transition into out-of-home childcare. We make sure the parents are involved, updated daily, and cared for by not only the Provider but by all the parents.
From infancy, we expose the child to an array of activities of different difficulties to allow them to participate in play-based learning that expects no specific outcome. We do this so when we finally give them guidelines, they are already comfortable with the materials and are surprised when something new happens and realize they learned something.
We believe in the power of the partnership between the caretaker at home and the caretaker at school and make sure that line of communication is preserved and frequently utilized. If there is consistency at daycare and at home, then their milestones will be reached much easier and often much sooner than expected. These milestones include but are not limited to:
We facilitate daily exercises and massages to stimulate the muscles in preparation for flipping/crawling/walking. We also play with sensory toys that are exclusively for the infants and encourage them to watch our mouths when we speak to promote early language development.
We enjoy including the infants in the older children's activities including meals, circle time, and craft time. We find earlier development in language, social, and physical skills in infants that are exposed to older children sooner. We encourage the older children to aid in changing their clothes and in feedings so that the infants learn to trust them.
During tummy time, play time or outside time, the infant participates in supervised but unstructured interactions with the older children and on their own. They have free range of the daycare and of the outdoor play area which increases independence and curiosity.
We provide the play pen and sound/music machines.
