I believe that every child has the potential to bring something unique and special into the world. I work towards the development of the 'whole child' and reinforcing the idea of continuous growth through an enriched curriculum. I inspire critical thinking in young children by aiding them in forming healthy attachments to adults and developing a positive self image.
Our primary goal is for children to feel safe and secure. The daycare is within a home where the children learn to set the table and greet the parents. Our home is in a calm neighborhood where we know our neighbors, watch the garbage trucks on Thursdays, and say "Hello" to the mailman. We pride ourselves in how much our little school resembles being at home, because we know the home is the safest, most comfortable place to learn.
~ Jenny De La Oliva
My family and I immigrated to the United States from South America many years ago, but my life really changed when my second daughter was born. I have always had a resilient and passionate work ethic so I knew I wanted to work and be financially stable for my family but I did not know anyone I trusted to leave my baby with. In order to look after my daughter at home and have an income, I decided to look after two more children. I realized soon after that looking after a child was more than just watching them, it was tending to their nutritional and developmental needs. I decided to go to college again (Montgomery County College) to learn of Early Childhood Development; I wanted to provide quality care and make myself a professional in my new career. It was not easy in the beginning considering I was adapting to a new culture and a new language, but with the support of my husband, I was able to persevere and establish a credible and respectable daycare. Over the years with all the positive experiences that I've had, with the work I’ve done with children and the gratitude parents have towards me, I can say that this profession has changed my life completely. The ability to teach my own child makes me give the best of myself to the other children; we treat the children how we would want others to treat ours. We know that the home is a child’s first school so we want to preserve that feeling of comfort and trust in a place that prepares them for a large school setting, and we have been able to accomplish this task for the past 20 years.
